BADMINTON

Ready to shuttlecock-and-roll? Come join our feathered frenzy birdie brigade! Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned pro, you’re in for a smashing good time!

Who: All levels

When: Thursday evenings from 8 pm - 10 pm. The last Badminton evening of the 2023-24 season will be on June 13th, 2024. Please note that sessions will occasionally be cancelled when the gym is needed for school activities.

BILLIARDS

Take a break from the grind and cue up some fun with us! Whether you're a pool shark or just dipping your toes into the pool (table), join us for a game of billiards and let the good times roll!

Who: All levels

When: Every Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. (6 pm - 7 pm designated for food and socializing.)

Where: Flea Whiskeys (601 Erin Street)

Cost: The price of the table is divided by the number of players. Cost of any food/beverage is extra. Small change donations are collected to support Out There Winnipeg and the Rainbow Resource Centre.

BOWLING

If you're feeling a bit spare on things to do, why not strike up some fun with Out There Winnipeg? Whether you're a pin-punishing pro or a gutter ball guru, come have a ball with your fellow community!

Who: All levels

When: We typically meet twice a month on Mondays, but the dates may change monthly. From 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. (6 pm - 7 pm designated for food and socializing.)

Where: Uptown Alley (1301 St Matthews Ave)

Cost: $10 + tax. Food and beverages extra.

A $1 donation to Out There is requested.

BOXING

Out There Winnipeg is partnered with Umbrella Boxing, a boxing club for members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and people of marginalized genders, including non-binary folks, trans women, and trans men to learn the sport of boxing.

Who: All levels and members of the community who do not feel safe or included in current gym or boxing club environments. Umbrella Boxing is for those who want to experience boxing and fitness in an environment that rejects fatphobia, body-shaming, misogyny and other forms of discrimination and harmful messaging about health and fitness.

When: The 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month from 1 pm - 3 pm

Where: 245 McDermot Ave (Basement)

Cost: No cost. Donations are appreciated.

CHARADES

Charades is a fun and popular party game whereby one member of a team acts out a phrase and the other members of their team try to guess the words within a set time limit. Out There Charades lovers usually act out the names of movies, books, songs, etc. If you are new to Charades, we will teach you the basics; we promise that you will catch on quickly!

Who: Everyone from our 2SLGBTQ+ community is welcome to share in the fun – though, due to space, we may have to cap the number of participants.

When: We play at least 2 times per year, once in the fall and once or twice between January and May, usually on a Saturday night. We accompany our games with a pot-luck light meal (finger food).

Where: We usually play in the home of one of our participants – we will send you the address once you register for Charades Night.

Cost: No cost. A $1 donation to Out There is requested.

CLIMBING

Ready to reach new heights? Whether you're a rockstar climber or a rookie on the rocks, grab your gear, chalk up those hands, and get ready to reach for the sky!

Cost: Day passes are $27 plus cost of shoe rentals

CURLING

Out There Winnipeg is partnered with the Keystone Rainbow Curling League (KRCL), an open curling league with teams made up of any gender combination. The league is open to 2SLGBTQ+ people and their allies, of all ages and curling abilities.

Who: All levels

When: Sundays between 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm from October to March

Where: Granite Curling Club (1 Granite Way)

Cost: Registration Costs for the 2024-2025 season:
• $271 to register as part of a regular 4 person team and as a Granite Club Member
• $97.75 to register as a 5th player or spare, and as a Granite Club Member

FOODIES

With a shared passion for discovering new restaurants and embracing the vibrant food scene in Winnipeg, this group offers a welcoming space for anyone who values the pleasure of culinary experiences and the company of great individuals.

Who: An inclusive community that caters to the diverse members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community

When: Every second month

Where: A different restaurant in and around Winnipeg will be chosen every time

Cost: Participants are responsible for their food and drinks. We try to choose various restaurants and price ranges.

The information for the event will be sent out a month before the dinner. Please email Queer Cravings to sign up. A confirmation email is needed to attend the dinner. Spaces are limited so email us early!

GAYMERS

Calling all ga(y)mers! Level up your social game by choosing your own adventure!

Board Game Night: One weekend evening/month at the Rainbow Resource Centre (545 Broadway). 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. No cost or RSVP involved. You may bring your favourite games and snacks. For exact dates please sign-up foe either Gaymer or Sports Night mailing list, or check the Out There Instagram page.

Special Outings: Once a month at different recreational destinations in the city. The cost will differ depending on activity. An RSVP will be requested. Details will go out to both the Gaymers and Sports Night mailing lists, or check the Out There Instagram page.

Online Game Night: Over Zoom 1 Monday evening per month. No cost or sign-up required. Exact dates will be shared with the Gaymers email list.

HIKING

Out There Hiking is generally active from May to October, though an occasional winter walk may be scheduled. We organize about 1 hike per month, on trails within 3 hours driving time from Winnipeg. We try to offer a mix of relatively easy and more challenging hikes every season. A season plan is sent out to subscribers on the Out There mail list in the spring, and detailed descriptions of particular hikes 1-2 weeks in advance.

Who: All members of our 2SLGBTQ+ community are welcome. (Anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by an appropriate guardian.)

The approximate level of difficulty is included in the information for each event. If you require more information, contact the hike coordinator.

When: Check our calendar for upcoming events

Where: Most hikers meet at a coffee shop at a Winnipeg location on the way to the trailhead. There we sign waivers and arrange car-pooling.

Cost: No cost. A $1 donation to Out There for each hike is appreciated, or $5 for the season.

RUNNING

Out There Winnipeg is partnered with Winnipeg Frontrunners, a fun, diverse, and social LGBTQ+ running group that is open to all levels of running.

Who: All levels

When: Saturdays at 9:00 AM from April - November

Where: Meet at The Forks by the Neon Cone (1 Forks Market Rd)

Cost: No cost

Each run starts with a brief introduction, followed by deciding on a route. The group will divide into a long run/short run depending on what folks are up for that morning.

If you running isn't your thing and you'd like to meet us for coffee, find us at The Forks after the run at 10:00 AM.

URBAN WALKS

Explore the city and come take a walk with us!

When: Once a month (weather pending)

Where: All walks will be held within city limits

Cost: No cost. A $1 donation to Out There Winnipeg is requested.

Walk details will be shared with the Urban Walks email list. These walks are designed to be under 10km. Registration may be requested.
