KILCONA WALK
Join Out There on Saturday, Feb.8th for a fun winter experience at expansive Kilcona Park(1229 Springfield Rd.). Take in the many bridges, rolling terrain and the seasonal treat of walking on the frozen retention ponds that nestle around the park
MEETING INFO: We will meet at the benches off the main parking lot. On Google Maps this will be labelled 'Kilcona Multi-Use Park' and is accessed via Norris Road that runs parallel to DeVries/Lagemodiere.
We will gather starting at 1:45pm with a plan to depart at 2pm.
BUS: Kilcona Park is not accessible directly by bus. The best bet is to ride the FX4 to Gateway & McIvor. From there it is roughly a 20 minute walk. If you require a ride over to the Park, please reach out and arrangements may be possible
PARKING: There is ample parking at the lot we are meeting. If for some reason the lot is full, there is also parking along Norris Rd.
PLANNED ROUTE: We will definitely go on the frozen retention ponds that border the park. There is also a nice wooded section to explore, as well as several footbridges and a large hill that overlooks the entire park. We will cram in as many features as we can. Expect a walk of near 5km lasting around 1.5 hours.
SLEDDING?: There is a generous run on the hill not far from the parking lot. Feel free to bring along your favourite sliding implement for some added fun.
REGISTRATION: Not required. Simply meet us there.
COST: Loonie donations will be taken.
GUESTS: This is a 2SLGBTQIA+ event. Guests should be community member or allies.
DOGS: Kilcona has a large off-leash area, but do please keep your dogs leashed when we are not in these areas.
QUESTIONS: Please direct all questions to Matt: mattmacneil.wpg@gmail.com

St. Vital Park Walk and Sledding
Join Out There this Sunday, December 28th for some wintry fun as we take a stroll through St. Vital Park and embrace our childish side taking to the toboggan slide.
MEETING INFO: We will be meeting in St. Vital Park (190 River Rd.) inside the main pavilion: see map bellow (parking circled in red, pavilion circled in yellow). We will meet beginning at 1:30pm, with a plan to depart before 2pm.
PARKING: The parking lot circled below is rather large. In the unlikely case this is full, road parking and auxiliary lots are near by.
BUS: The 676 will need to be taken. You can transfer to this bus along the rapid transit way. There will be a short walk from River Rd to the pavilion.
PLANNED ROUTE: There is an exterior trail that borders the river of roughly 2.5km and several secluded interior paths that are often populated by deer. We will try to get in 4-5km of walking on these usually well travelled paths before visiting the toboggan slide
SLEDDING: St. Vital Park hosts an fully-accessible toboggan run with an attached warming hut for those interested. You will need to bring your own toboggan, krazy carpet, piece of cardboard, or GT racer (for those bussing, we can store these in a vehicle during the walk).
REGISTRATION: Not required for this walk. Simply meet us at the pavilion.
COST: Loonie donations will be taken.
GUESTS: This is a 2SLGBTQIA+ event. Guests should be community members or allies.
DOGS: Provided they stay on leash and can match our pace, dogs are welcome.
QUESTIONS: Please contact Matt: mattmacneil.wpg@gmail.com
