We will meet at 9:00 a.m., introduce ourselves and pick a route.
We usually break in to two or more groups to accommodate different levels and speeds. We typically run between 5 and 10 km, and we meet back, inside the Forks Market, for coffee and some socializing.
There is no cost to join for a run; and you're also welcome to meet for coffee without the run.

Manitoba Opera - Treemonisha
Once again, Out There Winnipeg members can take advantage of complimentary tickets to see Manitoba Opera's latest production, Treemonisha: A Musical Reimagining.

Escape Room
Whether you like a fright, or are a little more tame, come test you wit and your nerve in a night of puzzle solving and fun bonding.
WHEN: Saturday, October 24th at 7pm. Please arrive early to sign waivers and complete payment.
WHERE: Real Escape Winnipeg (3137 Portage Ave.), a little west of Sturgeon Creek( between Greenway Crescent East and Greenway Crescent West).
ROOMS: London 1888 is designed to be frightening, while Oz is not. Please indicated which room you would like to participate in when you register. Each room can accommodate a maximum of 8 people.
COST: There is a cost of $30/player, to be paid to the front desk on arrival

Bois Des Esprits
It's time to grab a sweater (and maybe a jacket) and catch the last glimpse of the fall colours as we take a stroll on the always pretty Bois Des Esprits trail system. Get some fresh air, take in some views and meet some new people (and possibly deer) as we enjoy this leisurely stroll.
MEETING INFO: We will gather on the Royalwood Bridge (intersection of Shorehill Drive and St, Anne's Road: east side) beginning at 1:45pm, with a planned departure of 2pm.
PARKING: There is a No Frills parking lot across St. Anne's Road from our meeting point that has ample spaces.
BUS: The FX2 lets off at Southglen and Sauve (essentially St. Anne's and Shorehill). It is the weekend, so please do some research.
TRAIL: The main trail is crushed limestone, while the trail closer to the river is compact dirt. Everything should be dry this time of year. The primary trail out-and-back is roughly 4km, but there are options to extend the walk on both ends. Expect a walk of around 1.5 hours, with the option to extend.
REGISTRATION: Is not required for this walk. Simply meet us on the bridge before 2pm.
COST: A loonie donation to Out There will be collected.
GUESTS: This is a 2SLGBTQIA+ event: guests should be community members or allies.
DOGS: Provided that dogs stay on leash and can match our pace, they are welcome. NOTE: If your dog is super reactive to deer, this would not be the ideal trail to take them on.

COOKIE CRAZE
This event works similarly to the cake picnic held this summer. If you missed that event, well you're in luck because this time around we are baking cookies!
Bakers must bake two dozen cookies of their choice and must provide a list of ingredients. Please bring a plate or container as well as tongs. Bakers will be given free entry into the event.
Non-bakers are welcome to join in on the fun but are asked to provide a donation to Out There. At 2pm, everyone will be given a box to fill up with cookies of their choice. Coffee, tea, and a sweet vibe will also be included!

Gorge Creek Trail (Riding Mountain National Park)
Our next hiking adventure will be on one of the loveliest trails in western Manitoba:
Gorge Creek, in Riding Mountain National Park.
This popular trail traverses several biosystems. We begin at the edge of the Manitoba prairie, near the East Gate of the Park. From there we will begin a gentle-but-steady climb, through thick forest, to the top of the Manitoba Escaprment. Eventually we will find ourselves walking along the top of the steep banks of Gorge Creek. From there, we will look out on a vast expanse of pine, birch and poplar forest, dressed up in its colourful autumn splendor.
This is an out and back (or up and down) trail, 6.4 km each way. It may be considered moderately difficult -- the challenges being the distance and, for the first half of the hike, the progressive climb up the escarpment.
The trip from Winnipeg to the trail head is a about 3 hours.
We will meet at Joe Black's coffee, 2037 Portage, at Overdale St, right across from the Assiniboine Park Foot Bridge. (The Blue line stops right there). We will meet at 8:30 am and endeavour to be on the road around 8:45. If you are running late, call Thomas at (204) 981-2719.
Expect to be back in the city around 8:30 pm. Add an hour if we stop on the way home for a light supper. (The drive from Joe Black's to the trailhead is about 2 1/2 hours.)
Bring good walking shoes, water, a picnic lunch and snacks, $25 for your driver and $1 for Out There.
Please note that October 11 is the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.
October weather is hard to predict. The long term forecast is for a high of around 14. If the weather is rainy or for some other reason we need to cancel, we will send out a notice the evening before.

Fall Colours Walk: Assiniboine Forest
ASSINIBOINE FOREST
Join Out There in this relaxing stroll as we take in the fall colours inside the sprawling Assiniboine Forest.
MEETING INFO: We will meet in the parking lot at 3000 Grant Ave. (Grant & Chalfont) in frint of the trail map starting @ 1:45pm, with a planned departure of 2:00pm.
PARKING: The parking lot where we are meeting is sizable, but if the weather is pleasant, it may be full. Additional street parking can be found along Chalfont.
BUS: The FX3 runs in both directions along Grant and lets off at Grant and Cathcart. It is a short walk over to the parking lot from there.
TRAIL: There are many trails to explore, but we will try to walk around the wetlands and go over the boardwalk as part of our journey. Expect a walk of roughly 6km, taking a little under 2 hours.
REGISTRATION?: Is not required. Simply meet us at the trail map before 2pm.
COST: Loonie donations to Out There will be collected.
GUESTS: This is a 2SLGBTQIA+ event. Guests should be community members or allies.
DOGS: Provided dogs stay on leash and can match our pace, they are welcome to join.

Frontrunners Run
Hello Frontrunners (and potential Frontrunners)
We're starting our regular Saturday runs again this weekend, on April 25th. As in past years, we'll meet at the Forks Market, near the canopied plaza, just outside the Neon Cone.
We will meet at 9:00 a.m., introduce ourselves and pick a route.
We usually break in to two or more groups to accommodate different levels and speeds. We typically run between 5 and 10 km, and we meet back, inside the Forks Market, for coffee and some socializing.
There is no cost to join for a run; and you're also welcome to meet for coffee without the run.
This run is rain or shine, so be prepared for the elements.
